Red Stockings of Cincinnati play the first in a series of exhibition baseball games in Boston.

June 10, 1869

During their three-day visit, the barnstorming professional team beats the Lowell’s (29-9) in a specially constructed stadium erected on the Parade Grounds on Boston Common.  They also subsequently beat the Trimountains (40-12) at Beacon/Riverside Park; and the Harvard’s (30-11) at Jarvis Field in Cambridge.
